In DDI's assessment of over 70,000 manager candidates, only 19% demonstrated strong delegation competencies. Recent surveys have also highlighted increased leader stress and declining manager engagement. While empowerment and trust in leaders show positive relationships with performance and creativity, caution is needed in declaring causality. The lack of growth opportunities, high turnover intentions, and the relationship between managerial support and AI utilization also provide grounds for reviewing delegation design. In practice, the scope of decision-making authority, phased delegation levels, and pre-agreed checkpoints must be clearly defined.
